Second grade students have been studying matter over the past several weeks. This week’s focus is on changes in matter. Students in Mrs. Bateman’s classroom conducted a hands-on investigation by creating a “snow storm” in a jar, combining water, paint, baby oil, and Alka-Seltzer to observe an irreversible chemical change. 🧪❄️

Mia is the “Spotlight Writer of the Week” in Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Hartley’s class. She wrote an excellent informational essay that deserves to be recognized! Way to go, Mia!!

Due to the weather forecast for this Saturday, the Toombs County Bulldog Baseball Camp scheduled for January 31, 2026 has been canceled.

Georgia Milestones are quickly approaching. We would like to invite parents in 3rd -5th grade to come to a GMAS Informational meeting on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Students have received a letter for sig-up for each of our sessions. We will be offering multiple in-person sessions and will be posting a virtual session on social media. Today 4th graders finished their Westward Expansion Unit with a Pioneer Day! Students presented their Google Slides that they have worked so hard on and made butter in a jar!

Last week, our 2nd grade students had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience at the Georgia Southern Wildlife Center! 🦉🌿 Through the Native Habitats and Wildlife program, students explored Georgia’s ecosystems, learned about local animals, and deepened their understanding of how to protect the natural world around them. A day full of curiosity, discovery, and outdoor learning!
