Second grade students have been studying matter over the past several weeks. This week’s focus is on changes in matter. Students in Mrs. Bateman’s classroom conducted a hands-on investigation by creating a “snow storm” in a jar, combining water, paint, baby oil, and Alka-Seltzer to observe an irreversible chemical change.

Georgia Milestones are quickly approaching. We would like to invite parents in 3rd -5th grade to come to a GMAS Informational meeting on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Students have received a letter for sig-up for each of our sessions. We will be offering multiple in-person sessions and will be posting a virtual session on social media. Joaquin got 10 punches on his card during Mrs. Padgett’s reading tutoring. He earned a token to get a book from the book vending machine. Way to go Joaquin!!

Last week, our 2nd grade students had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience at the Georgia Southern Wildlife Center! 🦉🌿 Through the Native Habitats and Wildlife program, students explored Georgia’s ecosystems, learned about local animals, and deepened their understanding of how to protect the natural world around them. A day full of curiosity, discovery, and outdoor learning!
