Dear LUES Families,
The summer is a great time to foster your child's creativity by engaging in art projects. Whether it's painting, drawing, crafting, or even trying their hand at a musical instrument, summer is an ideal time for artistic exploration. Drop a picture of your student engaging in the arts and music. Have a great summer!

LUES Families,
Take advantage of the summer weather and explore the great outdoors. Plan a family hike, picnic, or visit nearby parks. Nature walks and camping trips provide opportunities for learning, adventure, and lasting memories! Drop a picture of your student in the comments exploring nature.

LUES Families,
Remember, school supplies will not be provided this year. Here is a list of what your student needs in order to be ready for class. Or, you can order the full kit to be delivered to the school from https://www.edukitinc.com/. Thanks for your support!

LUES Families,
Encourage your child to continue reading during the summer months. Visit the local library together to choose books in which they are interested. Consider setting reading goals or participating in summer reading programs. Don't stress abut what they are reading; just encourage them to read!

LUES Families,
Don't forget, school supplies WILL NOT BE PROVIDED for the 2024-2025 school year. This site has everything your child needs in a kit that will be delivered to LUES for your child- except a backpack. Take advantage of this one stop shopping /delivery service.

LUES AWARDS DAY: Last day of school- Friday, May 17th. 5th Grade- 8:30 a.m., 4th Grade- 10:00 a.m., 3rd grade: 11:00 a.m. Go ahead and mark on your calendar, ask off from work, and make plans to attend your child's ceremony at Toombs County High School. Can't wait to see you all there!

Mrs. Wiggins' (in 5th grade) hosted a calculator math riddle class during Mini Course day at Lyons Upper. Students used calculators to solve riddles. Students were surprised to know numbers turned into letters when the calculator was flipped upside down 🙃 #shine #LUES

After careful consideration and for the safety of our staff, students, and community we are cancelling school on Friday, May 10th. Our community still has widespread power outages and expects more storms tomorrow. We feel it is simply not safe to have school transportation to be on the roads tomorrow. We will be back to normal school operations on Monday, May 13th.
Stay Safe.

Toombs County Schools will delay dismissal to 3 PM to allow buses to get in place. Thank you parents for being patient and understanding of this severe weather delay. Students may be later than normal getting home.

Check out the tents at LUES Field Day to learn about family summer resources!

LUES FIELD DAY WEATHER UPDATE: We are currently still planning to have FIELD DAY this Friday (May 10) at the TCMS Soccer Field, but have seen some weather reports that may not be favorable. Of course, safety is the number one priority of our students. If weather is not permitting, we will try to move as many events as possible indoors. We will not be able to host parents indoors because of lack of space. We will try to keep you posted on what decisions are made as the time comes and weather forecasts are updated. Due to lack of the days left in school, we will not be able to reschedule Field Day if it is rained out. Thanks for your support! We hope we have beautiful weather and lots of parents attending!

LUES CEREAL CHALLENGE- We only have few more days to get those boxes of cereal donated. May 14th at 9:30 is the final day . We are currently at 290 boxes. Our GOAL is 500 boxes so that every student can place a domino in the train. Please consider donating to our project.
